Bar Manager

The role: The role of Bar Manager involves an effective communication with Restaurant, Private dining, kitchen and all other departments to ensure that the quality of service and food and drink offered meets and exceeds standards. As Bar Manager, you will manage the effective operation of the bars to ensure customer service is at its best. You will be responsible for maximizing all revenue opportunities through effective teamwork and development, serving all food and beverage as required by resort standards and maintaining overall levels of courtesy, service and cleanliness in the bar areas.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Manage the day-to day operations of the outlet/outlets, assign responsibilities, supervise the team members and check their performance
  • Prepare daily/weekly/monthly schedules for the outlet’s staff achieving the highest personnel cost efficiency
  • Ensure that all team members understand the resort's service culture, standards and procedures, that they are well-groomed and that high standards of personal hygiene are maintained at all times
  • Have a complete understanding of and adhere to the hotel's policy relating to Fire, Hygiene, Health and Safety and train the team members accordingly
  • Ensure that the bar stocks for all operating equipment and supplies are strictly adhered to and that the outlet is adequately equipped
  • Liaise with the Cost Controller to ensure all orders are in place
  • Assist in conducting monthly inventory checks on all operating equipment and supplies
  • Assist in controlling the requisitioning, storage and careful use of all operating equipment and supplies
  • Liaise with the Kitchen department on daily operations and quality control, as needed
  • Maintain close and clear communication with the F&B Manager, the heads of the other outlets and heads of other departments
  • Keep up-to-date with the latest trends in the field as well as keep a good understanding of the competition
  • Handle all guest requests and enquiries in the bar area
  • Establish a rapport with guests maintaining excellent customer relationships

Candidate profile:

  • Excellent command of the Greek and English language
  • Knowledge of a third language (i.e. German, French, Italian, Russian, Spanish, etc.) will be valued accordingly
  • Degree in Hospitality/Tourism is highly desirable
  • Very good knowledge of MS Office and of at least one PMS software (i.e. Protel, Fidelio, etc.) and P.O.S. Systems
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience as Bar Manager in a 5* multicultural hotel environment
  • Extensive knowledge in wines, spirits, cocktails, etc. is an absolute must
  • Sound knowledge of food and beverage products and of the use of bar and other related equipment
  • Knowledge of fine dining service standards and procedures
  • Proactive, able to work efficiently under pressure, to make decisions and come up with effective solutions
  • Hands-on approach, flexible, with a positive attitude
  • Strong leadership and team-building skills
