Job Description:

Workathlon is recruitingCommis De Cuisine on behalf of Viking Cruises in order to assist with the staffing of their Vessels in Europe.

Viking Cruises is the leading river and small ship cruise line worldwide, with extraordinary standards and quality of services.

Purpose of position:

You prepare meals to the fullest satisfaction of our guests and ensure compliance with Viking River Cruises Standards and HACCP rules.

Assignments/responsibilities:

  • Assistance with preparation and cooking daily meals (including breakfast, lunch, Tea Time, dinner, etc.) for crew and guests in accordance with Executive Chef Manual and menu cycle
  • Handling all groceries, products and galley equipment with care
  • Inventory according to instructions
  • Separation and disposal of waste / garbage
  • Conduction of stock takes; inventory according to company procedures
  • Preparation of opening and closing ships at start and end of season
  • Assistance in other departments upon instruction from supervisors (if required)
  • Performance according to company standards and HACCP rules
  • Participation in loading’s
  • Luggage duty on embarkation and disembarkation day
  • Correct storage of stock; establishing of par levels
  • Active participation in on-board training programs

Guidelines and Regulations:

  • Implement PSO policies, procedures, standards, as laid out by the management
  • Ensure appropriate appearance and clothing according to the updated grooming standards

Supervisor: Executive Chef, Sous Chef

Receives instructions from: Sous-Chef, Executive Chef, Corporate Executive Chef, Corporate Operation Manager

Salary:

The monetary compensation for the Commis De Cuisine position is: 2.375 Euro (Gross)/ Month

Required Qualifications:

  • Basic education as a cook (Know how; filleting fish and meat)
  • Degree from a culinary school is considered a plus
  • At least two years of experience in a 4-5* hotel or prior experience in a comparable position
  • English speaking skills

  • Competence in all facets of cooking
  • A flexible and motivated team player
  • Ability to work under pressure long hours and in a fast-paced environment
  • Willingness to go the extra mile and learn new culinary skills
  • Patience and understandable
  • Patient with an ability to stay positive under pressure
