BACKGROUND TO IRC
The International Rescue Committee (IRC) responds to the world’s worst humanitarian crises and helps people to survive and rebuild their lives. Founded in 1933, the IRC offers lifesaving care and life-changing assistance to refugees forced to flee from war or disaster. At work today in over 40 countries, the IRC aims to restore safety, dignity and hope to millions who are uprooted and struggling to endure. In response to the arrival of refugees in Greece in 2015, the IRC has been offering SMS, WASH, Livelihoods and Protection services to children, women and people in need of mental health support. IRC Hellas currently has offices in Athens and on Lesvos, Chios and Samos.
SCOPE OF WORK
IRC Greece supports vulnerable refugee and host communities in Athens to access income generation through employment and self-employment services, directly and in collaboration with partners. The IRC is recruiting an interpreter/cultural mediator to provide interpretation services for career and entrepreneurship counselling sessions held with Farsi speakers who are clients of the Livelihoods program of the IRC. The Interpreter will also be responsible for interpretation in business, soft skills and job readiness training group trainings in collaboration with partners and the translation of relevant material.

This position will be based out of the IRC center in Athens, Greece, and may require occasional travel to other locations.
