BACKGROUND TO IRC:
The International Rescue Committee (IRC) responds to the world’s worst humanitarian crises and helps people to survive and rebuild their lives. Founded in 1933, the IRC offers lifesaving care and life-changing assistance to refugees forced to flee from war or disaster. At work today in over 40 countries, the IRC aims to restore safety, dignity and hope to millions who are uprooted and struggling to endure.
The IRC works in Greece from July 2015 responding and providing aid to refugees and migrants. The IRC’s programming in Greece currently focuses on Protection, Mental Health & PSS, Water and Sanitation & Economic Recovery & Development in Athens, Lesvos & Chios islands.
SCOPE OF WORK:
IRC Hellas is an active partner at the Curing the Limbo, a program aiming to implement a dynamic and innovative model for integration that allows refugees to become socially active. The IRC’s role in the program is to support program participants through the provision of market relevant employment skills, access to services, job placement support, and registration to educational and vocational programs. Curing the Limbo (2018-2021) is a European pilot program of the city of Athens implemented with the strategic partnership of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (UoA), the Catholic Relief Services (CRS), the International Rescue Committee (IRC) and the Athens Development and Destination Management Agency (ADDMA). This project is co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund through the Urban Innovative Actions (UIA) initiative.
IRC Hellas is recruiting a Job Counselor to be responsible for assisting clients with career counseling and training. The Job Counselor will also be responsible for delivering job readiness trainings to program participants and ensure that clients are prepared to access and thrive in the Greek labor market.

Other Internal and/or external contacts:
Internal: Head of Programs, Job Counselors, Microenterprise Counselor, Livelihoods Officer, Grants Department, ERD Technical Unit, Supply Chain, Finance, HR, Research Evaluation and Learning Technical Unit.
External: UIA partner organisations, Curing the Limbo staff, relevant working groups, local and national government entities such as OAED, Chambers of Commerce, businesses and business development entities, peer and partner agencies.
Other details:
This position will be based out of the Curing the Limbo and IRC offices in Athens, Greece, and may require occasional travel to other locations.
