Okyalos Group in continue to growing with adding two more establishments in Athens, one in the northern suburbs and one in the south riviera (Kavouri area) and at this moment Papaioannou Restaurants are seeking to recruit front of the house staff
We are currently looking for a passionate and experienced Sommelier to join our Restaurant team. As Sommelier you will be responsible for the service of wine and other beverages as ordered by guests, using good interpersonal skills and selling techniques. As Sommelier your role will include.
- To ensure that you have in depth knowledge and understanding of the wine list, food menus and service standard
- To ensure that mis-en-place is prepared for each service and maintain wine-serving equipment in the highest standard
- To assist customers with their choice of wine or drink and to take the appropriate orders.
- To actively ‘up-sell’ to enable revenues to meet budget forecast
- To ensure the correct handling, use of, storage and cleaning of all service equipment.
- To assist and actively participate during inventory of wines.
The successful candidate will have the following experience and skills:
- Advanced WSPC Certificate, CMS qualification or equivalent qualification
- Previous experience in a similar role within a fine dining restaurant, hotel or similar type of establishment
- Knowledge of fine wine, spirits and cocktails
- Excellent interpersonal and up-selling skills
- Able to work well under pressure
- Excellent level of English
- Ability to operate in a diverse and luxury environment with a focus on guest experience
- Be a self-motivator and someone who is ready to challenge in the interest of continuous improvement
- Friendly, approachable and professional
