LOCATION: Athens, Greece (remote)
TYPE OF CONTRACT: ICMC
STARTING DATE: 15 October 2025
CLOSING DATE FOR APPLICATIONS: 7 October 2025
CONTRACT DURATION: Until 31 December 2025
ABOUT ICMC
The International Catholic Migration Commission (ICMC) is an international non-governmental organization, whose mission is to protect and serve children as well as uprooted people, including refugees, asylum seekers, internally displaced people, victims of human trafficking, and migrants - regardless of faith, race, ethnicity, or nationality.
ICMC started a partnership with UNICEF in Greece in order to deploy a highly qualified affiliated workforce to assist UNICEF Greece Country Office.
SCOPE OF WORK
UNICEF is the world’s leading organization working for the rights of children. In Greece, UNICEF works to uphold the rights of all children, including the most vulnerable, to ensure they grow up healthy, educated, and protected.
UNICEF became operational in Greece in early 2016 as an outposted team from the Regional Office of Europe and Central Asia (ECARO) to respond to the significant influx of refugee and migrant children and their families at that time. Following several years of engagement with national stakeholders, UNICEF and the Government of Greece made a decision in January 2020 to formalize the agency’s presence in the country as a full-fledged Country Office. The office falls under the auspices of the UNICEF Regional Office for Europe and Central Asia located in Geneva, which supports the work of 22 Country Offices within its geographical scope, reporting in turn to global headquarters in New York. These offices carry out UNICEF's mission through a unique set of programmes that focus on practical ways to realize the rights of all children. Within the framework of a mandate for all children in Greece, UNICEF and Greece are now working to address the needs of all vulnerable, marginalized and left-behind children in the country.
Recognizing the immediate need to support young children and their parents, the Ministry of Health and the UNICEF Greece Country Office have launched ‘Promoting of Child and Family Health through the Paediatric Framework” as a key pillar of the ‘National Action for the Promotion of Family and Child Health in Greece 2023 – 2025’. Key early childhood development (ECD) activities under this pillar include the creation of a toolkit for paediatricians to facilitate the early detection of developmental disorders in children. These efforts encompass the collection and adaptation of screening tools, preparation of usage guides, mapping of existing relevant health services, and the development of a digital application to support early detection and referrals. A Help Desk for paediatricians is also planned to ensure effective implementation along with an informative plarform for parents and caretakers.
Under the guidance of the UNICEF Programme team, the incumbent will support the translation of materials related to child health, development, mental health, safety, and positive parenting (covering the age range 0–17 years). These translations will enhance parents’ and caregivers’ capacity to address the developmental, health, and well-being needs of children.
To meet these requirements, UNICEF would like to engage one Senior Editing Consultant (full-time). The Consultant will be responsible for reviewing, editing, and finalizing Greek-language versions of website approximately 1000 articles, 40 videos, FAQs, and other relevant resources translated from English, to be incorporated into the Programme’s online platform. In addition, the Consultant will edit and proofread approximately 50 programmatic documents related to the Programme. This work will be carried out in coordination with UNICEF and the Scientific team of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA).
The scope of this assignment is to ensure that all content is edited into a single, consistent format that is accurate, culturally appropriate, and easily understandable by Greek parents and caregivers.
The Consultant should have proven expertise in editing texts in Greek for publication purposes, with the ability to ensure that the final outputs are linguistically polished, stylistically consistent, and ready for dissemination. The Consultant should also be qualified to edit resources on health, child development, and parenting, ensuring that the Greek versions are reliable, accessible, and aligned with the national context. A strong understanding of public health, mental health, and child-related terminology is required to guarantee that edited texts are accurate, coherent, and well-adapted to the Greek context. High-quality editing services are essential so that content remains clear, user-friendly, and engaging for parents, caregivers, and professional audiences.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The Consultant will contribute to:
• Review and edit all translated Greek texts (1000 articles, FAQs, tools, and video transcripts) for grammar, spelling, punctuation, formatting, and style.
• Ensure clarity, readability, and consistency of tone, maintaining a clear and parent-friendly approach.
• Verify that all content remains faithful to the meaning of the original English sources and aligns with Greek cultural context and national health guidelines.
• Standardize terminology and style across materials to ensure coherence and professional output.
• Deliver CMS-ready and editable versions of all content (Word, Excel, subtitle files) aligned with UNICEF editorial and style guidelines.
• Support the integration of edited content into the CMS system, reviewing online appearance and formatting consistency.
• Identify and flag sections requiring further expert input or scientific review.
• Collaborate closely with NKUA reviewers and UNICEF to integrate feedback and finalize texts.
• Maintain strict confidentiality of all project-related materials.
• Conduct editing progressively, in line with the delivery schedule of translations, aiming for full completion by end of January 2026.
• Apply prioritization according to UNICEF’s proposed content structure.
